Theme – Ready Steady Grow

 

This half – term our theme is ‘Ready Steady Grow’. During our theme we will be learning all about the different parts of a plant and looking at what they need to grow. We will also be sketching plants and making prints from leaves.

 

 

Phonics

 

Phonics is a very important part of our curriculum. Each day we will learn a new sound and practise the 'red words' from our reading books.

 

 

English

 

In English we will following our new English scheme RWI.

 

Maths

 

In Maths, we will be looking at fractions, where we will learn all about making halves and quarters. We will then be moving on to study numbers to 100. We will be reinforcing concepts taught previously. The children will be counting in tens and ones, followed by using number bonds to partition numbers. We will then move on to exploring analogue clocks and telling time to the hour and half hour.

 

R.E

 

In this unit pupils will encounter the concept of God through the promises and symbols of baptism. Many Christians believe that the decision to be committed to Christ and be baptised brings salvation. The washing away of sins and beginning a new life in Christ is only possible because of Jesus' death and resurrection.

What we are learning …

 

Theme – Location, Location

 

This half – term our theme is ‘Location, Location. We will be studying our local area by looking at familiar places and what they are used for.

 

Phonics

 

Phonics is a very important part of our curriculum. Each day we will learn a new sound and practise the 'red words' from our reading books.

 

 

English

 

In English we will following our new English scheme RWI.

 

 

Maths

 

In Maths we will looking at numbers to 40, where we will be partitioning numbers into tens and ones, then we will be moving onto solving word problems.

We will then be looking at multiplication. The children will learn the foundations of equal groupings, repeated addition, arrays and doubling.  

Finally we will be studying division where the children will be sharing and grouping amounts equally.

 

 

R.E

 

In R.E we will reflecting upon the miracles of nature and new life during spring. The children will listen to and retell the Easter story. They will make links between the transformation of plants and animals and the Easter story in order to develop an understanding of the resurrection.

Theme

 

Our Theme this half term will be ‘Man on the Moon ‘where the children will be learning about Neil Armstrong and the great race to space!

We will be designing our own moon buggies as part of our DT topic and we will be creating our own rockets using junk modelling during our Art lessons.
