Image of Whitemoss Landfill Hearing
Before October Half-term a group of Bishop Martin Y6 pupils spoke out at the Public Hearing on the proposed extension to the Whitemoss Landfill site.  They had prepared, as a class, an eloquent speech that reflected the views of the entire school community and they delivered it to a packed Digmoor Community Centre in front of the panel consisting of Her Majesty's Inspectorate.  It was incredibly brave thing to do, but the children felt passionately about the subject and wanted to make the views of the youth of Skelmersdale heard.  Following the speech, the children received a unanimous round of applause from those present.

The Deputy Headteacher (Mr McDonald) accompanied them, "This showed incredible bravery but the children feel passionately about this debate and wanted to engage fully in the political process.  It is a true reflection of the Values we embody at Bishop Martin that our pupils care this much about real life issues affecting the community of Skelmersdale.  I couldn't be prouder of them!"
