According to the Code of Practice 2014 the Identification and Assessment of Special Educational Needs:
“A child has Special Educational Needs if he or she has a learning difficulty which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her.”

Both of these terms are used frequently to describe a whole range of needs.
What is not a Special Educational Need?
There are many factors which may affect a child’s ability to learn, make progress and achieve. These factors may affect learning in the short term or for a longer period but do not alone constitute SEND. School will endeavour to support children and families with any issues which may be affecting learning through the appropriate channels. Examples of these factors may include:
Children with any of the above issues are continually monitored and placing on the SEND register may be appropriate if there is evidence that there may be a SEND need.
Here at Bishop Martin C.E.
