Do you play a musical instrument?

Or sing in a choir or group?

Would you be willing to share your talent with some of the children?

Our children really love to listen to music and will really appreciate your visit. Some of our parents and friends in the past have really enjoyed coming to play their guitar, bag pipes, trumpet, violin, or drums. We've even had a whole rock band!

If you would like to come and share your musical talent please pop in and speak to Miss Rowat.

EVENTS

Music Club Spring 2020

Music Club have been learning to play the ukulele this term.

Many thanks to Mr Tedford for sharing his time and talent with the children!

Curriculum Carousel

On the 4th February 2020 we held our first Curriculum Carousel and spent time exploring the different subjects in our school.

In Music we began by listening to Ravel’s Bolero and responded to the music by drawing what the music made us think about.

Then we watched Torville and Dean ice skate to the Bolero.

Finally we played “Guess the instrument.”

2018-2019

Sign to Sing

Each year we take part in 'Sign to Sing'. This is an annual event, organised by the Deaf health charity SignHealth. It is the only mass participation signing event in the country and we love the idea that we’re taking part in something along with thousands of other schools, community groups and people at work!

Some deaf people communicate using sign language, and sign2sing is designed to promote this beautiful language . We sign to many of our worship songs too.

This year we learned to sing  and sign to the  UK Number 1 best-seller - Greatest Day by Take That.

Beechwood Court

In December our choir was delighted to visit Beechwood Court and entertain the residents with a selection of songs from our Christmas performances and also some traditional carols.

Not only do we get the chance to perform our songs again but the residents generously provide us with a drink and some sweets while we spend time chatting to the residents after our singing.  We love to hear about what life was like when the older members of our community were young.

CD Recording

This year we were very excited to be able to make a professional sound recording of some of the songs from our Christmas performances.

We practised hard and then spent a day recording. Every child who was in school that day took part from EYFS to Year 6.

There was also a competition to design the CD cover. We had a large number of wonderful entries and it was very difficult for our judging panel to choose just two winners because the standard was so high.

Kitija designed the winning front cover and Bonnie the winning inside cover.

A special commendation also went to Evita, Laurynas, Macey, Heidi, Phoebe, Isabelle and Amelia who all made it to the final.
