Language Celebration Day—Latvian

At Bishop Martin 22% of our children have English as an Additional Language (EAL) and 41% of those are Latvian. We want to celebrate each of our EAL families home language throughout the year, starting with Latvian. Thursday 6th February will be our first Language Celebration day! Throughout this day the children will work in their teams and our Latvian Language Ambassadors will help to organise the events of the day. We will explore the language and learn some basic greetings, research the culture of Latvia, learn about it's capital city and explore some traditional foods. Where possible we would also like to get our EAL parents involved and support the learning taking place.
