Some of our year 3 and 4 pupils kick started our sports competitons this year when they attending the handball tournament. They worked hard as a team and represented Bishop Martin brilliantly. I great start to the academic year! Well done!

High 5 Netball Tournament

Tuesday 29th September saw 7 children from years 5 & 6 take part in the West Lancashire School Sports Partnership High 5 Netball tournament at Glenburn Sports College. 13 schools took part and were split into 2 groups with Bishop Martin playing 6 matches in the qualifying rounds. They played Moorside (4-0 win), St. Francis (4-0 win), Woodland (0-0 draw), St. James (4-0 win), St. Richards (1-1 draw) and Delphside (4-0 win). These results meant we finished 2nd in the group and played Little Digmoor in the 3rd/4th place play off. Bishop Martin won 4-0 to finish 3rd overall.

All the children played really well and the behaviour as always was fantastic! A big thank you to all the supporters that came out to watch!

Cross Country Event

On a very rainy evening, four fantastic runners went along to Hope High School to compete in the annual cross country event. Despite all the rain and mud, the children completed the course and still had big smiles on there faces. A great effort by all! Well done!

Basketball Tournament

Tuesday 13th September saw 12 children from Yr 5 & 6 take part in the SHARES Basketball Tournament at Hope High School. We split the children into 2 teams, Bishop Martin Blue and Bishop Martin Yellow! Both teams played really well and showed some great attacking and defending skills as well as some outstanding shooting! Bishop Martin Blue and Bishop Martin Yellow both won 3 games and lost 1, which meant they both finished top of the group on the same points! It came down to goal difference to see which team had won overall, Bishop Martin Blue just edged it with 2 more goals than the Yellows. Well done to both teams, Bishop Martin Blues will go on and play a Grand Final at a later date. Thank you to all the parents who came and showed their support.

Girls Football Tournament

On Tuesday 10th November it was the turn of the Bishop Martin Girls to take part in the West Lancashire School Sports Partnership Liverpool Cup football tournament. 10 schools took part and were split into 2 groups. Bishop Martin played against Delphside, Woodland, Hillside and Trinity. They beat Delphside, Woodland, Hillside and lost to Trinity. This meant that they made it through to the semi-final against St. Edmunds. The girls won their semi-final and played in a fantastic final against Trinity. Unfortunately the girls lost in the final but they all played really well and should be very proud of their achievement. A special mention has to go to Molly for scoring 11 goals!! Well done girls! Team: Louise, Molly, Eva, Darcie, Caitlin, Ruby, Shaunna and Aimee-Louise
